Has anyone heard of the famous liger Kenny?  His father is a lion and his mother is a tiger.  When you combine different animals, different technologies, different ideas it’s called a hybrid.  The most common use of this word nowdays are the hybrid cars which use two different types of energy to power the motor (usually electricity and gas).  Amazingly, lions and tigers can cross-breed to have babies.  A liger’s father is a lion and it’s mother is tigress (female tiger), while a tigon’s father is a tiger and it’s mother is lioness.  Surpisingly, ligers can be born fertile, while tigons are rarely fertile.

Not all ligers look like Kenny.  He is special because he is physically deformed.
