I saw this article which uses a new term. “Globish”. There is a link to the article at the bottom of this post. The term combines the words “global” and “English”. It basically refers to basic level English. So therefore, “Globish” = “simple English”. The article considers Globish to be the worlds most widely spoken language.

If you agree with this article you can agree that learning basic level of English is important. In my class I always encourage you to USE the level of English that you have, as much as you can, BEFORE you worry about raising your level of English. Your level of English will naturally increase, and develop when you are brave, and practice speaking out. If everyone is starting to understand “Globish”, then that shows that your poor grammar won’t be as important, and infact this is true. To become more comfortable, you should try to explain things with the English you already know. This article shows that the rest of the world is already doing it.
