Here is a Ted.com presentation by Martin Jacques. Entitled “How to Understand the Rise of China”, his presentation tries to educate the Western thinkers on how China represents a different embodiment of nationalism than any other country in the world. I agree with some of his statements, although I’m not sure I agree with all of his statements. I’m curious to see what some Taiwanese think about his perception of China as a “civilization state” rather than a “nation state”.

This is difficult listening, although there is a transcript in the right-hand side bar.
